About the Artist

A lifelong love of art and humor inspired Meredith Edwards to create ODD-JECTS d'ART in the late 80's. As the "company" name implies, her art forms delight their owners with a blend of fantasy and comedy, woven together to create an atmosphere of fun!

The award winning artist has lived in Albuquerque, NM since 1976. After getting a BA in Geography and Art from the University of New Mexico, she worked as a technical illustrator/cartoonist/cartographer for 6-1/2 years. ODD-JECTS d'ART emerged out of her drive to develop skill in different media and the discovery of how various molding and casting materials could further her abilities to produce desired effects and products. Because Meredith loved and collected dolls since early childhood, doll making was a natural progression incorporating her skills as a designer, cartoonist, sculptor, painter, seamstress and annoying salesperson. Casting her original sculpts allows Meredith to keep up with production and allows more people to own her whimsical artwork, which she sells at juried arts fairs and galleries.

Her pieces reside in many collections around the world, and she has fabricated props and sculptural costumes for film, theatre, performance, and photography. She was the inspiration for the main character in the novel The Mommy Club  by Sarah Bird, which also uses the titles of several of her creations. Meredith also acts as a creative consultant and performs on stilts as "the Toothless Fairy". In the year 2000 she married a very handy and supportive
husband who was willing to adopt one of her two cats (the other is merely tolerated)  Their latest family addition was a "German-Chocolate" Lab they named "Boo-Boo" because getting a puppy probably was one.
